Lake County Workforce Development can pay for qualified jobseekers to attend short-term training to enhance their wage and career possibilities.
 
bullet What type of training is available?
We individualize training to the customer. Our customers have attended hundreds of types of training through different schools or training programs.  Successful completion of the training programs have opened up tremendous job opportunities for our clients.  Approved training programs can be viewed on the IWDS website
 
bullet Who qualifies for the grant?
The grant is available to Lake County residents ages 18 and above. Customers qualify based upon income, lay-off status, or special needs. Customers must also be legal residents of the United States. Men ages 18 and above must comply with selective service requirements. Some of our previous customers have included:
 
bullet Workers who lost their jobs due to a company closing or lay-off
 
bullet Individuals who found their skills were out-of-date in the current job market
 
bullet Single parents who want to support their families
 
bullet Homemakers who are joining or rejoining the workforce
 
bullet Young adults looking for a first job
 
bullet Workers age 55 or older, who may want retraining or a part-time job
 
bullet Where are you located?
We are based at the Job Center of Lake County in both Grayslake and Waukegan.

Attend an information session at one of the Job Centers to apply!  The Career Specialist who leads the information session will tell you more!
