Public Water Supply Health Notices
Lake County Public Works will initiate a Public Notice if certain contaminants in the drinking water system are found to be higher than the set standards. Occurrences are rare, but might be caused by:
Changes in local source water conditions
Changes in the condition of the distribution system
We routinely flush our water mains through nearby fire hydrants in order to clean out sediments and maintain chlorine in the system for disinfection.
Lake County Public Works will conduct its semi-annual water hydrant flushing program beginning April 3, 2017, depending on weather conditions.
The process will be performed daily, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., per the hydrant flushing schedule and will continue until all water mains throughout our water systems have been flushed.
The anticipated completion date is April 28, 2017. Residents are urged not to do laundry during periods of flushing in your area to avoid staining of clothing, which may occur due to dislodging of sediments in the water main.
Signs will be posted in each area before the start of hydrant flushing. Check out our calendar for your hydrant flushing schedule. For further information, please contact our office at 847.377.7500.
