County Administrator

County Administrator Barry Burton serves as the chief administrative officer for county government. The County Administrator's Office strives to provide the best possible, most fiscally responsible services to Lake County residents and taxpayers. Please contact the County Administrator's Office for additional information regarding any county government program or service. Some of the primary responsibilities of the county administrator include:

  • Implement policies of the County Board, and goals and strategies identified in the strategic plan
  • Manage and direct Board priorities and initiatives, including the IL Route 53 extension, shared services initiative, and annual legislative program
  • Develop and oversee the annual budget and capital improvement plan
  • Coordinate and/or collaborate on countywide activities involving departments with elected and appointed department heads
